Meet the artist

Hi, I’mJules

A ceramics artist based in Manchester, Connecticut. I’ve been making pottery for over five years, and I recently turned a longtime passion for clay into a business.

I first touched clay while studying genetics at UConn Storrs. I was terrible at it in the beginning. Really terrible. But something about the material made me refuse to give up. Around the same time, I was competing in track and field as a javelin thrower, so ceramics became this quiet counterbalance to training, competition, and the pressure of school.

After UConn, I moved to North Carolina and earned a Master of Public Health from UNC Chapel Hill. I kept making pottery through it all. Classes, studying, athletics, work. Later I spent time developing my craft at a studio in Durham, North Carolina. I have learned and taught at studios across New York City, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and North Carolina, and I try to carry something forward from every teacher I have had. Teaching has become one of my favorite parts of this work.

I work with both the potter’s wheel and pieces built by hand. Every piece is glazed individually. That means each one carries its own character, its own drips, marks, and quiet imperfections.

My strongest inspirations come from nature, especially the ocean and marine life. I love the contrast between my busy life and the stillness of working with clay. When I am at the wheel or building by hand, I fall into a flow state where time disappears. Ceramics gives me peace, focus, and a creative outlet that balances the rush of everything else.

I am drawn to functional art, objects that are beautiful but also meant to be used. I love the idea that art does not always have to be something you look at. It can be something you live with. A handmade mug at morning coffee. A bowl at dinner. A vase on the windowsill. These pieces become part of daily rituals, and that is the whole point to me.

My hope is to keep growing Drip Glaze Ceramics into my full time career, and to keep sharing work that brings a little beauty and slowness into people’s everyday lives.

God is good, and I am grateful to be here.
